House Condo Or Loft

Maybe you have found a job in the area, or maybe you are planning on attending school. Perhaps you are one of the many who has relocated to Kansas City in order to find a job within the burgeoning metropolitan area, or just want to spend your retirement years in a well developed community. Whatever your reasons for moving here, you have to make a decision as to what type of Kansas City Mo real estate you want to purchase. In this article, we will take a look at three popular housing options and their strengths and weaknesses.

Condo

Condominium living is incredibly popular these days, particularly in metropolises such as Kansas City. Condos come in a variety of shapes and size, from the high rise complexes typified by Festival Tower in the north to low rise buildings which may contain twenty units or less.

Condos are appealing to many people in large part thanks to their convenience. In bigger cities, traffic can be a real problem for most people. Not only can congestion add hours to a commute every day (a common problem for Kansas City and Erin Mills real estate owners in the suburbs), it also means taking longer to get every day tasks done. If you are heading into the city to go shopping or for some entertainment, you are bound to run into some traffic.

In general, condos also have the plus of being more affordable within the city than a stand alone home would be. That holds true whether we are talking houses here in Kansas City or homes for sale in Oshawa. Condos also come with a lot less personal maintenance than a stand alone home which includes a yard and all the systems which must be taken care of by the owner.

Of course, buying a condo also means that you are paying for less square footage, and that means you will be limited as far as family size goes. It also means less room for storage; Kansas City and Toronto condos usually include separate storage spaces in the lower levels.

As a final consideration in the 'con' column, you have to think about common fees when you are buying a condo unit. These fees can go up at any time, and go towards paying for the systems of the building as well as maintenance of the grounds.

Lofts

Lofts have all the same benefits and negatives of a condo, but are different in one aspect; they offer a style of open space living. Lofts are condo units without a lot of walls. Bathrooms and sometimes kitchens are closed off, but generally the area used for dining, sleeping, and recreation are all within the same open spot. They are great units for singles or couples without a lot of need for room and who like the idea of open living. Gallery lofts are popular options among bohemians and artists.

Stand Alone Home

Ownership of a stand alone home means being in charge of your own property, from grass to roof. You can put in a garden, tear up the lawn, pave the front lawn, or put up a fence, if you want. Of course, that also means taking on all the work yourself.

Stand alone homes are ideal for those with families or who are thinking about starting families. They offer more room to grow and expand than lofts or condos. They are also a better investment option than lofts or condos, as houses will always be in demand. High density residential developments, on the other hand, are being put up constantly. Generally, newer buildings mean a decrease in the value of older units.
